Display problems on Ubuntu Linux platforms

Problem:

I just installed a Tecplot product on my Ubuntu platform and I’m having display problems. How do I fix the problem?

Solution:

Try adding the -mesa flag to the command you are using to start your Tecplot product. If this doesn’t resolve the display issue you are experiencing it is possible that the Compiz Fusion visual effects (in Ubuntu platforms 7.10 or newer) are causing the problem. To disable these effects do the following:

  • In the Ubuntu main menu go to System > Preferences > Appearance.
  • In the Appearance Preferences window switch to the ‘Visual Effects’ page.
  • Select ‘None’ and click ‘Close.
  • Close any open Tecplot product windows and reopen your Tecplot product. The display problems should be resolved.
